MSC to Introduce Cruises in the Red Sea by Matt Hannafin Here’s one for the cruiser who’s been everywhere: This November, the 1,554-passenger Armonia of Italian line MSC Cruises will set up shop at her new home port of Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, and will begin offering cruises that sail entirely within the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aqaba, an area rich in history and rife with geopolitics. Each cruise will visit the ports of Safaga and Sokhna Port (Egypt), Elat (Israel), and Aqaba (Jordan), and optional shore excursions will take travelers to sites such as Mount Sinai, the Wadi Rum Valley, the ancient Jordanian city of Petra (carved out of sheer rock faces and famous as a location for films, including Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade), Egypt’s pyramids, and the city of Jerusalem. Less historically freighted options will include swimming in the Dead Sea, riding camels in the Arabian desert, and visiting a Bedouin camp. www.frommers.com/community/blogs/blog.cfm/cruise-blog/msc-introduce-cruises-red-seaTRAVEL RESERVATIONS LIVE TELEPHONE SUPPORT 24/7 US and Canada: 1-800-780-5733 EU: 00-800-11-20-11-40 phoneid 47909 www.1t23.com
